Hillary Clinton would have won the election based on the popular votes. From the 2016 US election results, Hilary has 574,064 votes more than Donald Trump. The Electoral College votes can be an unfair advantage due to some of the states having small numbers of electoral votes. Donald Trump conquered states, like Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming with 3 electoral votes and much more that have less than 10 electoral votes. This situation has happened 4 times in elections, such as during the year 2000, Al Gore had half a million popular votes than George W. Bush, but he lost due to electoral votes. Hillary Clinton during the year 2000 said, “I believe strongly that in a democracy, we should respect the will of the people and to me, that means it’s time to do away with the Electoral College and move to the popular election of our president.” Yet still 16 years later, the Electoral College is still enduring. Even Donald Trump on the eve of 2012 election called it “a disaster for a democracy” in a Twitter post and complained about how it’s a “rigged” election. A+faithless elector is an elector who doesn’t vote for the candidate they pledge to vote. They never made a majority change with any election. Currently, Clinton supporters are trying to make a change by persuading faithless electors to switch to Hillary which can get Hillary to be president. The Electoral College does have it’s benefits and deceptions but abolishing/modifying it would be rigorous. For the Electoral College to be abolished, it would have to take a two-thirds majority of House and Senate to approve and after that, three-fourths of the states must ratify the amendment. Then, to modify the system to make it fair, you must get states to agree on modifying their systems,nonetheless, the party in the states has the lead to rejecting it. It is absolutely grueling for both actions to do, but it’s not impossible! Overall, Hillary would win the popular votes, but regardless the Elector College is an “all or nothing system” which I feel is narrow-minded and unreasonable and that the system should be base on popular
