“Censorship, so far as I see it, is like a law which prohibits swimming altogether because such a law will prevent someone from swimming in a sewer” (Brower 1) Here, in the twenty-first century, the banning of thoughts and ideas in humanities and media has become one of the most widely disputed issues facing this country. Though it is highly controversial, hazardous to literature, and unconstitutional, censorship is rampant in America. Censorship is a huge part of the world today if it's on TV, Radio, Internet and so much more. Censorship is to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable. His lyrics are not displayed the way that he wants them to be portrayed and going against his morals. The lyrics aren’t created for them to be alienated and changed into a whole different meaning. Artists express themselves in a way through their words that voice their opinion on life, drugs, sex and tons of other topics throughout the world. To censor their viewpoint is like censoring on live TV and cutting out their feelings and emotions at that point in time. In an interview Shaquille O'Neil on live TV was expressing his feelings about the referees and said " People pay good money to come see these athletes play and they (Referees) take over the fucking game!" Proceeded to the response of "Shaq we're on live TV." These instances are when people are able to express their emotions and tell the world how they're feeling in that moment in time. Shortly after people will criticize them for their use of language. Amendment 1: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievance” (The Bill of Rights).
