Gun control has recently been a serious controversial issue in today's society. Many people believe that guns are the major leading cause of crime and violence. But is this really the case? Do guns cause violence or most crimes nowadays? These are the types of questions that government officials and everyday citizens are wondering when it comes to gun control laws. There are certainly good reasons for why people are in favor of gun control, but there are also people who believe there shouldn't be new laws and things should remain how they are now. The conclusion of this argument is that if gun laws became stricter, then there would be many more lives saved, and what supports this is the premise which is enforcing gun control will help make people safer and lessen the number of deaths per year. This is a valid argument because they can back up the argument by the evidence that other countries have done this and succeeded. For example, in Australia you must have a justifiable reason for why you want to own a gun (Peters). Because they made this a law in their country, it has helped them reduce the number of deaths and injuries from guns. This is a frequent argument that is used. The conclusion of the argument is that there should not be new laws for gun control, based on the premise that we need guns because we have the right to own them and that we need them to protect ourselves in times of need. People also use the Second Amendment to defend their argument. The second amendment states, “...the right of the people to keep and bear arms will not be infringed” (Lund, Winkler). For people that supports guns and don't want stricter laws, this amendment means that people have the right to own guns. This is one of the most used and most common argument for people against gun control. The thing about the Second Amendment is that what it says is correct, but it is unfair to some people. When people use this as an argument, they don't realize the other side of the amendment. Look at it this way, the people who go by this amendment will go on and carry guns, because they have the right to, but the other people who don't want to have guns or be in their presence will feel even more scared. This is the same type of dilemma that is already going on and is basically a no win situation. It would be more safer for everyone if no one would be able to carry a gun with them, that way
