Arms, shall not be infringed." Today Americans argue whether more rights or more control on firearms is needed. Many people believe that firearms are for protection when others believe that the firearms create crime. There are two sides of this debate on guns, either people are for gun-rights or people are for gun-control. Gun control and gun rights are a big issue in the U.S. but the Second Amendment definitely beats controlling firearms around the United States. For example, many believe that those who have mental issues should not own guns due to crime they could get involved in. Some people believe stricter laws are needed on gun control that limits the type of guns that are legal to own therefore making it harder for criminals to get their hands on a weapon (Everitt 1). The ones who sell firearms should have background check forms ready to fill out when someone asks to even see or handle a firearm in the store. Polls have found that even some gun owners support practical steps such as universal background checks, tighter regulations of gun salesmen, and keeping domestic abusers from owning guns (“Breaking the Gun” 1). Gun control supporters have tried to use the horrifying problems that exist in the rouse of mass shootings to persuade the public into action around practical gun restrictions (Blow 1). Those who own the guns already need to get background checks and if they don’t come out positive their firearms should be confiscated.
