Police Brutality Brutality is savage physical violence; great cruelty. In this case the people who sworn to serve and protect the citizens are committing brutal acts against the ones they must protect. Either in sense of suspicion or an actual arrest the citizens could be in potential peril. The recent actions from law enforcement creates controversy about officers abusing their power and their use of excessive force. For one thing, accusations of law enforcement using excessive force and the outcomes of the use of excessive force is flooding the media as it changes the public’s view of the people who sworn to protect and serve us. In a survey taken by police it stated that 25% of the officers stated that they witnessed their fellow officers harassing a citizen “most likely cause of his/her race. It also states that 52% of fellow officers turn a blind eye to improper conduct set by other officers. Additionally, it states that 61% of officers admitted that they don't always report serious criminal violations that involve abuse of authority by fellow officers. This all shows the amount of things that law enforcements are potentially able to get out of because their partner is afraid of what might happen to him if he tells. In fact, the article says that 67% of the officers said that the officer that reports an incident of misconduct are likely to be given a cold shoulder by fellow officers. Ultimately, this shows the way that police brutality could possibly occur, and would show that there could be many other cases of police brutality that weren't
