There are many beneficial elements to specific types of therapy; one of the most well rounded and easy to start is Art Therapy. Art therapy is just that: therapy out of the arts. It’s not all drawing and painting- while that does hold majority- It’s a creative therapy that helps relax people, increases creativity and mental health, and is known to help increase self-esteem and awareness. Art therapy is one of the easiest types of therapy and is very beneficial to the person attending it. The therapists are highly qualified, there are many variant types of art therapy with different medias, and there are many different styles to help ease the mind and increases the credibility of Art Therapy.

Different needs such as; Emotion, Relaxation, Happiness,Portraits, Trauma and Loss, Collaging- the list goes on! Each different need has different types and medias, from painting your emotions to collaging your childhood memories. It’s quite simple in theory, but effective for helping people relax and keep their emotions stable.It also can be used to see how certain people handle or see their illnesses or wounds, to see how a doctor could go about treating it. In 2004, there was a study done on 31 women, each one with heart disease. They were told to draw how they saw their disease, and the women were grouped into 3 categories based on what they drew. The first group drew the heart at the center of the paper/canvas, while the second group drew the heart inside of a body and lastly the third group drew heart disease as a social illness. With all the colors, composition and arrangement, doctors could see how each woman saw their disease and found how they could go about treating it for
