Arthur Miller is and was still considered one of the greatest american playwrights of the 20th century. Arthurs best known plays include , ‘All my sons” , “A view from the Bridge” , “The crucible” , and “Death of a Salesman” which wins him the Pulitzer prize. He was born in Harlem, New York on October 17th, in 1915 to an immigrant family of Polish and Jewish decent. Later in life, he attended the University of Michigan before he moved back East to write dramas for the stage. When the Wall Street Crash of 1929 happened , the Miller family almost lost everything causing them to move from ManHattan to Flatbush, Brooklyn. When he was concerning himself with the American Dream , Arthur recognized the link between poverty of the 1920s and the wealthy of the 1980s. Encouraged by the success of these works, many of his older works re entered the stage for revival. The death of a Salesman was later made for the screen in 1951. In 2002 Miller's third wife , Morath, passed away. Soon after he was engaged to a 34 year old minimalist painter names agnes Barley. But she fell soon into ill health right before walking down the aisle. As well in February 10th of 2005 , Arthur Miller has past away due to heart failure on the 56th anniversary of The death of a Salesman in Roxbury Connecticut, surrounded by family and friends. But in addition to his plays , he collaborated with Morath on books. Some of them were , In the Country (1977) , and Salesman in Beijing (1984). In 1987 , Arthur published his autobiography , Timebends: A Life , something he wrote was , “ imagined that with the possible exception of a doctor saving a life, writing a worthy play was the most important thing a human being could do.” Millers play have become American classics, which continue to speak to future
