On the early morning of April 9, Arthur Volupides was found dead at the bottom of the stairs in the Volupides home. Arthur was found shortly after one in the morning by his wife after she returned from a country club in which a party had occurred. Arthur’s wife stood at five-foot-six and a hundred and ten pounds, her name; Queenie Volupides. On the night of April 8, Queenie reported having what she called a “tiff” with her husband Arthur. This so-called tiff resulted in Queenie vacating the home and going to a country club to attend a party. The details of this ostensible tiff were not stated, therefore the extent of this altercation is unknown. Generally, a head wound would have to be incredibly severe in order for death to occur so quickly, and there were no noted signs of blood on or around the body. It is possible that Arthur died whilst Queenie was at the party, but Queenie stated that Arthur slipped and fell down the stairs, but how would she know this if she was not there? Therefore the death would have occurred in the ten-minute window before Queenie’s friends arrived. This is another part of the evidence collected in the investigation which leads to question if a fall down the stairs legitimately was the cause of death.

Queenie did not notify the police immediately after finding Arthur, she first informed her friends which is incredibly peculiar. If Queenie truly was concerned she should have alerted the police and should have been seeking immediate medical attention. The reaction of Mrs. Volupides seemed to be a tad fabricated and stale, overall it is not what is expected when you fear you are losing a loved one.

Yet another bizarre occurrence that night was the phenomenon of Queenie unusually exiting the party and arriving home ten minutes before her friends, a perfect window for anything to happen. This factor adds more suspicion to Queenie as a suspect and leads to a strong belief that she may in fact not be as truthful as she seems.
