Objective #5, synthesizing research is the back bone of good nursing. We have been taught that every action we take as nurses should be evidence based in order to deliver the best most effective nursing care. Throughout the nursing curriculum we have written a various evidence based papers which have molded our nursing practices and the way we deliver care. Artifact #1 is an in-depth look at research on the myocardial infarction (MI) protocol, how it was developed, and its effectiveness. The paper was written for the Health promotion III course. Through research I was able to analyze the effectiveness of the MI protocol and the effect that prompt initiation of the protocol had on the patients, as well as look at the nursing role in the protocol. Artifact #2 was written during the Pharmacology course, and is a teaching plan for a patient taking the drug Keflex (Cephalosporin). Through research of the drug a partner and I were able to identify nursing interventions and education necessary when caring for a patient on this drug. The teaching plan enabled us to look at the various side effects and contraindications for the drug that could …show more content…
the use of alcohol based antibacterial gels and foams. The video presents research that shows that during standard precaution situations hand washing and the use of alcohol based antibacterial foams are equally effective in ridding the hands of bacteria. I also report in the video that it is during special situations such as infections with Clostridium Difficile (C. Dif.) or Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) hand washing with warm soap and water is more effective in destroying bacteria then the use of alcohol based antibacterial foams. Through this research I was able to further understand the importance of hand washing as well as incorporate my research into my every day
