Are you a risk taker? Would you be willing to take a risk that could break your family’s trust? In the short story Ashes Ashleigh, the main character, is put in a situation that could break her mother's trust. In this story Ashleigh’s parents are divorced, and let's just say that the dad has more financial issues than the mom. Ashleigh’s dad soon come up with a plan that she knows absolutely nothing about except that it involves him needing to get $200. Her dad's face lights up with excitement, but then Ashleigh’s smile soon goes away. Her dad asks her to “borrow” so money from her mom's emergency stash. He drops her off at Ashleigh’s mom's house and waits outside. Before Ashleigh left he said, “ If you're not back in ten minutes, i'll go home.” Ashleigh walks inside and stares at the teapot deciding what to do. In the story it says, “No, I just thought you could borrow the money. Just for a day or two, until I straighten out all my finances.” (pg. 4) The money needs to be there in case of an emergency or something happened and she needs the money for financial reasons. What if something happens between those two days and she needs the money and it's not there?. If a burglar robs Ashleigh’s mom's house and steals everything she needs that money to recover everything. Also, she would need it in case they are out of food at the time and she needs that money to go to a grocery store and get you a meal. Or maybe something happened to her job and she has to pay her bills but doesn't have the money for it just yet, so she goes to the teapot for money. Imagine if it's not there, how would you react?
