I am currently reading, Al Capone Does My Homework by Gennifer Choldenko. The main characters are siblings Moose and Natalie Flanagin. If you’re the son of a guard on Alcatraz island in 1936 comes with major responsibilities and problems, especially when your dad gets promoted to associate warden, the number two spot on Alcatraz. The cons on the island create a point system for targeting prison employees. Since wardens are at the top, Moose’s dad could be in big trouble. In the beginning of the book, Moose accidently falls asleep while babysitting Natalie, a fire starts in the Flanagans apartment. Since Moose was asleep he doesn’t have a clue what had happened. After everyone leaves Piper runs away upset. Eventually Moose and Annie figure out why. Piper had accidently left one dollar in her pocket when it came back there were two. It turns out it is Donny Caconi who started the fire. People also think that it was Donny Caconi who brought the counterfeit money to the Count, a prisoner who was distributing the money among the clothing pieces. Janet talks to Moose about the fire. She said her pixies (the imaginary friends she takes everywhere) heard something they weren't supposed to hear. According to Janet, the "pixies" heard that Donny was paid by Darby, Janet's father who is married to Bea Trixle who also strongly dislikes the Flanagans, to set fire to Moose's house.
