Alphonsus Capone or Scarface was one of the most notorious gangsters of the 1920's and 1930's. He is most well-known for the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. Capone started off as bartender in Brooklyn working for Frankie Yale and later became the boss of one of the most successful mobs in Chicago. He headed the organized crime gang called the "Chicago Outfit." They called him "The Big Fellow." Capone proved that he was better than Torrio at organization of the city's main industry between 1925 and 1930. Capone controlled the speakeasies, bookie joints, gambling houses, brothels, and various other establishments. These businesses brought in a reported income of one hundred million dollars a year. Capone also acquired a large interest in one of the largest cleaning and dying plants in Chicago. Once he had successfully worked his way to becoming boss of the "Outfit," there was no going back. The men not only respected and obeyed him, but they also liked him. Upon researching Alphonso Capone I have learned many things. I learned that he was not just an Italian immigrant who wanted to make it big, he was a man who wanted to provide for his family and his people. He was an honest and generous man who treated people as they deserved. Although, his activities and many of his businesses were not legal he was a man who worked for what he wanted. He proved that no matter what your background was or is you can do anything, from running a successful organized crime ring that spread across an entire city to simply passing a test. Al showed people that as long as you have faith in yourself you can do anything you put your mind
