Some people saw Al Capone as a good man, but most thought he was evil the way he worked things. He got away with the murder that happened on Valentine’s Day, which involved four of Moran’s men that were gunned down by Capone’s men. He was in Florida on vacation when this happened, but people still believed that he did it. That showed how much people blamed everything on him. Capone got away with many murders and taxes he had to pay, but eventually it caught up to him.

Valentine’s Day Massacre, Capone already had 100 dead men on his hands, and gave Chicago a very bad name on organized crime. The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre was where Capone had men shoot down 4 of Moran’s men in a small building. It became known as rattled Mafia bosses. (True Crime Mafia 72) While this was happening, Capone was in Florida on vacation. People still accused him of shooting the men even though he was gone. He was arrested many different times for different things. Like on March 27th, 1929, agents arrested Al for contempt of court. He got one year in prison and a $1,000 fine. On May 17th, 1929, Capone and his bodyguard got arrested for carrying concealed deadly weapons. His biggest arrest caused him to go to jail for 7 years, 6 months, and 15 days, and he had to pay back all fines and taxes. He packed up his son and wife and moved to Chicago. Soon he became an expert knife-fighter with his street gang and would get many bloody battles. He also became very vicious in his knife fighting and got a scar on the left side of his face. That is where Capone got his nickname “Scarface”. (Nash 79) Al Capone was in a mob that often caused a lot of trouble. The mob was interested on illegal brewing, and distilling and distribution of beer and liquor. Even though they caused a lot of trouble, they were never investigated, no matter how many people they killed or laws they broke.
