Al Capone was born on January 17th, 1899 in New York City, New York. He was a Italian Immigrant and which lead to much discrimination and he decided to join a gang. His family lived in a poor Brooklyn tenement. It was a tough place to grow up but it's what made him to the man he was.
Al Capone was one of the most notorious, lethal gang leaders of the 1900's. By the time he was jailed, he had order 500 men's deaths, and there were more than 1,000 that were killed in his bootleg wars. While free, Al Capone could terrorize the lives of many, but when he was jailed in the 1930's, life became safer for the public. Al Capone did not have an usual childhood.
They moved to the US with 2 children and had Al soon after immigrating. Capone’s father, Gabriel, worked as a barber and Als mother, Teresia, worked as a seamstress. Did you know that Capones first time getting arrested was for drunk driving? His first time being in jail was for drunk driving and hitting a taxi. He was about 16 years old then.

I think Al Capone was the most influential and powerful gangster because he ran gambling, prostitution, and bootlegging rackets and expanded his territory by gunning down rival gangs.
Al Capone was a very powerful leader and an all around mastermind. Capone was raised around gangs in the city when he moved there from Naples and joined one in his teens called Johnny Torrio’s James Street Boys ran by Johnny Torrio. Later, he moved on to the Five Points Gang, which he graduated from. He got into a gang fight and someone cut his face with a razor hence the nickname “Scarface” (Grossman). When Torrio entered a brothel business he sent for Capone to be a bouncer at the saloon.
More than fifty years have gone by and Alphonse “Scarface” Capone remains as one of the most notorious mobsters ever to live. He was a man so strong and brutal he could take a guy out with a single blow, but there was also a side to him that added to his reputation; he was well respected throughout the city. He did not look for revenge and often, offered peace and forgiveness. Al Capone even made the man who gave him his nickname, Scarface, as one of his most prized body guards. Although many opinions about Al Capone vary among people, one can agree that though he was a ruthless mobster who would not let anyone stand in the way of his rule, he was also a community leader who supported the indigent and treated people with respect, often referred to as making them feel like family.
After being kicked out he eventually found Johnny Torrio who would change Al Capone’s life forever. He helped Jonny run drugs to woman to anything illegal. During one of his escapades Capone met another gangster who was from the opposite side of town who cut Capone’s left cheek and left a long scar. Which eventually he got his name Scarface. Torrio Eventually moved to Chicago to run a whorehouse in 1909.
He rose to notoriety as the leader of the Chicago mafia during the Prohibition era. He had a personal fortune estimated at 100 million dollars as the head of the infamous crime syndicate. He was sent to prison in 1934 for tax evasion. He was a significant figure in the world of organized crime. Al Capone was one of the most famous mob bosses, if not “the” most famous.

Al Capone was a predator, people who got in his way were his prey. He did not just kill people to get what he wanted, he was successful in large crime organizations.
