During the 1820’s and 1830’s, New England was undergoing a major transformation. With the Industrial Revolution underway, thousands of individuals packed up their belongings and relocated from the farms into the cities. As the Industrial Revolution emerged, thousands of girls took the opportunity as a means of obtaining freedom and independence to gain knowledge, income, and a sense of belonging. The murder of Sarah Cornell and the trial of Avery resulted in a clash between two emerging institutions in New England modernization during their lifetime, the textile mills and the Methodist Church, both of which believed that the opportunity for future growth relied heavily on a favorable verdict from the jury. This decision would determine both institutions future respectability and progress, as both Sarah and Avery’s reputation would reflect the reputation of the new economic development and methodist denomination.

A Chicago father of seven children used technology to sell his iPhone 6, that turned into a tragic decision for his family. Trinidad Bueno-Sanchez placed his phone for sale on the OfferUp app, he found a buyer and setup a meeting in a public place, a Meijer store parking lot, to exchange the phone for the $450 selling price, according to WGNtv. Five teenage girls were waiting with an envelope full of money for the 43-year-old father, but not all of the cash was in there. The teens realized Bueno-Sanchez figured that out as he was leaning into the car.

She would even help him get money, no matter the cost afterwards. Ashleigh does anything and everything that she can for her dad that is why she took the money. Ashleigh cares about her dad too much, she believes that her dad will pay her back, and Ashleigh would do anything for her dad that is why she stole the money. Also Ashleigh believes that her dad will pay her back is important because if she steals the money she wants to get it payed back soon.
Ashleigh wants to make her dad happy. He is always nice to her and she wants to return the favor like when he said “‘You get more and more beautiful.’” (pg 2).
Money means different things to everyone. Money could mean power, happiness, and success to some people, but it could also mean greed, debt, and problems to others. The only way money can have value is by the value we give it. In the story “Contents of the Dead Man’s Pocket,” Tom Benecke had been working for months on a paper for work, while his wife went to the movies. The paper flew out the window, onto the ledge,and he had to work to get the paper back.
Jamie had to face the decision to give up what she worked hard and her carefully thought out plan to help her brother’s family stay afloat, just like her parents are doing, or to continue to live out her dream and goals. Jamie had carefully planned out their lives so that they would not be left to struggle like her brother and sister-in-law. Charlton’s wife and kids are currently facings a financial crisis when a saw severally damages Charlton’s leg to the point where it had to be amputated. Everyone in the family is expected to help out and Jamie’s mom insists on selling the lake house to help out. Her mother implied she manipulated Charlton to do exact same thing, “sacrifice” something important to help the over all family unit.
