Human Trafficking The video, “Ashton Kutcher Speech on Human Trafficking Before Congress” is a persuasive argument explaining why the government needs to do a better job on helping stop human trafficking by bettering the major pipelines. It talks about the foster care homes being an easy trap for kids to be sexually abused, children being held in hard labor, kids being put on the dark web, sold abused and raped. Kutcher is the chairman and the co-founder of Thorn, a company to build software to fight human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of children. He has very strong statements on the lack of engaging help the government has had towards human trafficking. Kutcher explains the situations kids get put into tries to make the government understand how they can help his company grow to disadvantage human trafficking. They are being put into the wrong homes and getting treated pourly. According to Suzanne Hirt, Michael Braga, and Pat Beall, who wrote the article “Foster Kids starved, Beaten and Molested”, “Though the agency pays foster parents to keep kids safe and provide for their needs, more than 800 foster care referrals feature some form of neglect.” This reasearch supports the idea of the homes not always being safe and providing a way human trafficking can be easily advantaged.
