Slavery did not end in 1865 like we thought it did, it has stayed with us all these years and has evolved, in fact there is more slavery today than there was during the time of the American Civil War. One aspect that falls under the umbrella of modern slavery is human trafficking. This is a global issue that happens all around us even if we don’t recognize it. It is the second largest and most rapid growing organized crime industry in the world and also the second most profitable. A common misconception is that the only trafficking there is, is sex trafficking but there are various other types.
Thesis Statement A. What I hope to aim for my audience is too see what these young girls went through and how they are lured into this not willing wanting to go. I went through and listen to lots of stories of woman who were taken when younger and how they were enslaved by these men who mentally controlled their thoughts. When I read about poor stories from overseas how parents where so desperate for money they sell their children it was heartbreaking, but those two young ladies today Keiu and Sara are now working with a group home building a future and hoping to help other victims. The purpose to give the audience a better understanding what human trafficking is and how it’s going on in our neighborhoods.

Although numerous people are clearly not as knowledgeable on the problem of human trafficking and how seriously terrible it is, if more people got educated about it and all the problems that come with it and helped to take the initiative to stop it, we can severely decrease the percentage of its existence and make it obsolete. Human Trafficking is more than just one type of problem it consists of multiple things ranging from, illegals, children, sex trafficking, slave labor, and even organs being taken from others to be given to others illegally. In Houston, this plague is growing to a very significant amount. Everyone always questions Human Trafficking and what it is.
Are we doing enough to prevent human trafficking in the local area? Almost 300,000 people every year are forced into the sex trafficking trade system. Most of all the people forced into the trade system are girls between the age of 12-18. These people are being imprisoned for usage of their body, for the joy of others with the highest price.
Sex trafficking, the words alone are enough to send chills down my spine. Let alone children and sex trafficking, but what about children in America being used in sex trafficking rings. Now it should resonate within the hearts and minds of all Americans. This is not an issue that is across the border or across a sea. This is happening to 100,000 children in America, or more (Fang).
Corrupt government officials allow this to happen if you slip them some money under the table, which is a terrifying thing to think about, the people who are supposed to lead you and run your country allow you to be sold or stolen for their personal gain. Even in this great country of ours we allow this to happen, in California, the punishment for human trafficking of those over the age of 18 is 3-5 years in a state prison, 3-8 for a minor, and the best part, no stated penalty of trafficking a minor without force. But why change the law? Crime flourishes where the law is weak. Since the implementation of Prop 35, which increases the length of sentences and increases fines 10 fold compared to before.

what's more, requires an all encompassing, multi-sectoral way to deal with location the complex measurement of the issue. It is an issue that disregards the rights and respect of the casualties and in this manner requires basically a kid rights point of view while chipping away at its destruction. In the battle against trafficking government associations, non-administrative associations, common society, weight bunches, worldwide bodies, all need to assume a vital part. Law can not be the main instrument to deal with all issues. And stop sex trafficking weather it is your country or
