Assembly Line
What would you do if there was only one way of building a newly invented machine? Would you want a faster and easier way to build it in order to mass-produce it? Well, in the early 1900s some manufacturers had introduced a new way of production. This is known as the assembly line, which can be used for automobiles. Expanding on the use of the assembly line, one example is when it was used by Henry Ford. In 1908, Ford started making the Model T and it took about twelve hours to build just one. After the assembly line was invented, Ford began to produce them in two hours and thirty minutes. That is about a nine hour difference! This proves the assembly line to be quite useful at producing things quickly and efficiently. One fact

Going back to the assembly line, it works by having workers add parts to a product that moves along a belt. The belt moves the product from one station to the next one and each station has different workers. Interchangeable parts, another part of the Industrial Revolution, also played a huge role in the assembly line. To summarise, the assembly line helped reduce the building time for automobiles, as well as making it possible for almost everyone to own a car. Lastly, the most important reason why the assembly line improved life during the Industrial Revolution is because it helped save the companies money. It helped them because for every car produced, the would have to pay less for their labor. This is how big companies such as Ford, Dodge, Jeep, and Nissan became successful and stayed successful to this day. Todays assembly line, however, are now mostly controlled by robots which shows how much influence it has. Remember when I said that one example of the use of the assembly line is when Henry Ford used it in 1908? The popular misconception is that he invented the assembly line and after doing some research, I found out that Ransom E. Olds is the true inventor. Olds used the assembly line in 1901 to mass-produce the Oldsmobile, however, they stopped
