The ways of targeting their audience occur through many of the following ways: social media, tabloids, magazine stands, Internet, television, etc. What is the process and rate of success for the media when targeting its audience? The effortless way to spread a quick message or idea is through the media. Through the use of social media, many companies and advertisers set their agenda to target the audience through the use of statistics, pictures, sounds, and color or realistic appeal. Physical education classes have been offered at schools for centuries now, it has been very important for weight control and good health. However, in the recent years activity levels declined for the adolescent girls. With the advancement in technology and many new developments advertisement and photoshop a certain image or video has become very easy. According to Sass, ‘body image issues associated with social media discourage adolescent girls from engaging in physical activity including organized sports.’ Many companies use sexualized images of female athletes to promote sports and athletic wear in the media. Sass also mentions after a research, ‘that strong link between social media use and body image issues; here Facebook and Instagram were cited as particularly influential in shaping perceptions of the feminine ideal, leaving users dissatisfied with their own bodies.’ With the wrong message advertisement many young teenager girls are discouraged from sports. What they see on social media is what they believe is accepted in society.
