Various media outlets provide all sorts of information and news to the American culture. The information and news impact the opinions of the audience in different ways. Throughout this paper, there will be a discussion about the way that information media has a social responsibility to their audience. In the past, people had to wait for the release of the scheduled news broadcast and the newspaper before getting the news. Nowadays, with the electronic media, society can get news and information at any time of the day, no matter where they are at the moment. Today, the journalist can post a story as soon as they get one and no longer having to wait for the next morning before the readers can get a newspaper to read their stories. Due to the electronic media’s convergence, the competition for journalists is plentiful because of the mass media outlets that provide a platform for various information and news sources such as local and global news stations and newspapers, social media sites, bloggers, etc. The journalist now has the advantage to release their news stories earlier than they did in the past, but the desire to stay ahead of the competition and to be the first to report a story sometimes causes credibility and ethics issues.
