The congressional district I live in is the 6th district in Kentucky. Counties within this district are Nicholas, Bath, Bourbon, Madison, Clark, Fayette, Menifee, and parts of Harrison, Wolfe, Jessamine, Franklin, and Estill. Major cities within this district include Lexington in Fayette County, Cynthiana in Harrison County, and Frankfort in Franklin County. Due to Lexington and Frankfort being in this district, there are a wide variety of universities and colleges, tourist spots, and major employers. These include the University of Kentucky and Transylvania of Kentucky, Keeneland Horse Park, Rupp Arena, and Lexmark. What truly makes our district unique is the blend of city life in big cities, such as Lexington, and the quaint life in smaller towns, such as my hometown of Carlisle. Previous representatives include Ben Chandler, who was a Democrat and served from February 17th, 2004 to January 3rd, 2013, and Ernie Fletcher, who was a Republican and served from January 3rd 1999 to December 8th, 2013 after resigning when elected Governor of Kentucky.
