The term “professional” in terms of workplace for me is someone that is very well educated and very well mannered human being. Someone that is well respected in their field of work and someone that can understand people and have a sense of empathy and sympathy towards other people. Personally, my impression of the term “professional” is that he/she can work well with people. A few weeks before my clinical placements I will make sure that I have a good knowledge and understanding of the hospital setting especially the Radiation Department, because it is the place where I will be spending most of my time as a Radiation Therapist. I will do this by advanced preparation, reading over notes on “Clinical Placements” and also by listening during lectures. I will make sure that when the lecturer is explaining something I would listen carefully and ask questions when I do not understand something. A day before my clinical placement I will do some more advanced preparation by researching the location of the Radiation Therapy Centre that I will be put in to make sure I know where to go and arrive there on time. This is vital, because it would reflect really bad on me and the college if I showed up late for the clinical placements. The night before my clinical placement, I will make sure I have the proper equipment and uniform for the hospital setting. I will make sure that my uniform is ironed and that I have a good hygiene. The way you present yourself to patients and other members of the staff while in clinical placement is very important, because if you showed up with poor hygiene it shows how disorganized you are and it also shows that you do not care about being in clinical placements. On the day of the clinical placement, I will arrive on time to make sure that I do not miss anything important such as “Health and Safety” procedures, such as Fire and Safety procedures. This is important not only for my safety but also for the patients’ safety. When in clinical placements I will make sure that I listen to all the instructions provided by the members of the staff, for example I will wear my TLD Badge all the time and take it home with me at the end of the day and to wear uniform throughout the day and wear appropriate PPE (Personal
