In Greek mythology they believed in a second order of divine, males were Titans and women were called Titaness. The Titans were one of twelve primeval deities. The Titans were made up of six men and six women, their mother was Gaia, who was the mother of the earth and the father Uranus was the father of the sky. The six Titans were Oceanus, Hyperion, Coeus, Cronus, Crius, and Lapetus. The six Titaness were Mnemosyne, Tethys, Theia, Phoebe, Rhea, and Themis.

Metis made a potion to make Cronus sick. Both friends Zeus and Metis tricked Cronus into drinking the potion, when he drank it he threw up Zeus' five siblings. The six siblings decided to over and over throw not only their father but the other titans as well. The siblings and three hundred armed giants fought the titans to overcome them. After ten long years of fighting, the titans lost and Zeus sent all the people who were against him to Tartarus.

Titans are mythological entities used to understand the intended chaos and creation of the world before the gods were born. Many years later the Olympian gods, including Zeus, and the Titans had a series of wars called the Titanomachy to decide who would rule the universe. Once the Olympians won the war lead by Zeus, the Titans were all confined to Tartarus except for Atlas. Atlas has 3 brothers, Menoitios, Prometheus, and Epimetheus all from their mother Clymene, a sea nymph, and the Titan Iapetus. Atlas, being the one who led the Titans to war, was showed great hostility from Zeus unlike the rest of his family.

Samantha Garcia Nile Hartline ENG 105 USE 12187 26 September 2015 Three Dancing Figures, Version C “I think public art (unless there is a specific political or ideological message) should make people feel comfortable, and brighten their environment.” As I walked through the Pappajohn Sculpture Park, there were a few sculptures that I found appealing but the one sculpture that caught my eye in particular was the Untitled Three Dancing Figures. The sculpture itself has an interesting design in which all of the Dancing Figures are touching each other and it seems as if the figures are marching and dancing in order. The sculpture was designed by Keith Haring in 1989, but was not assembled until 2009 when John and Mary Pappajohn commissioned
