The Beneath the Armor of an Athlete by Lisa Whitsett, is about a book that shares her great experience as she stepped into the wrestling career. While the story, there are few elements that I found parallel which I had previously learned from last class. Self-talk is the repetitive example that had been brought in her story while becoming a wrestler. Toward the beginning of the novel, Whitsett explains are experience inside the sauna that changed her. During her time inside the, sauna almost every player had given up because of the atrocious heatwave yet she didn’t quit because she talked herself into enduring the pain.
Ex-Basketball player by John Updike is a poem about Flick Webb. Flick is a mechanic that was a superstar athlete in highschool. Flick wasn't the smartest so he didn't do well in school. Because he didn't do well in school he only became a mechanic and lives in the same town as he did in highschool. I think that the message of the story is that just because you're a great athlete you still have to try hard in school so if sports don't work out then you have a backup option.

I am a student in Lopez Early College High School and I am in the varsity football team. Last year in the 2014-2015 football season we the team went 0-10. That means that we went 0 wins and 10 losses. Last year we were a bunch of sophomores in the varsity team and as a team in general we were not experienced in playing in a varsity game, since we really went from the freshman football team straight to the varsity football team. I remember that when we played Los Fresno my sophomore we lost to them extremely bad, I remember the score being 72-0.
From this experience, I believe I can work simultaneously with the sports medicine program providing mentorship to the students, to withhold and maintain the expectations of the coaching staff. A constructive approach to developing outdoor free play is, in my opinion, the cornerstone of developing a love of doing, moving, and being physically active. Many children don’t enjoy the harshness of competitive sport (I was one of them) but do enjoy being out and about doing things. As a child play that involved running, cycling, swimming, and skating were all the things that I truly loved.
