About me:
My name is Summer Hill, I am a Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C) and hold a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education (BHPE) degree. During my education, I was able to work with a variety of varsity athletes primarily with the St. Mary’s University Men’s Basketball team and the University of Calgary Dino’s Football Team. Working closely with the teams in the pre-season, in-season, and off-season managing injuries and providing support during their strength and conditioning. Injuries are bound to happen whether it be from playing a collision sport or an overuse injury. In a field setting, I do not only hold my CAT(C) accreditation where I can assess, manage and make a return to play protocols in time efficient manner. I have gained this knowledge and understanding working closely with the University of Calgary Dino’s football strength and conditioning coach, David Swagar during the off-season assisting with exercise correction and rehab modifications for our athletes returning from surgery. With my current work, I am formulating and executing programs for patients in the gym daily. Hiring me, I have an extensive amount of experience working with a football team clinically and on-field coverage; working closely with team doctors, coaching staff, and any other medical personnel in helping with on-field assessments, taping, and return-to-play decisions. In addition to continuous practice and education on football equipment removal. Throughout my undergrad, I was also in the University tape room mentoring my peers, providing guidance and feedback on injury assessments and return-to-play decisions. From this experience, I believe I can work simultaneously with the sports medicine program providing mentorship to the students, to withhold and maintain the expectations of the coaching staff. I mentored my peers with the expectations that come with football, field set up, and running the taping clinics to ensure each of the students who came to help provide the same level of care we are expected to give.
