While attending the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, I plan to study kinesiology and exercise science. As a former athlete, and someone who has seen what other athletes have endured, my biggest goal for myself and my career is now to make a difference in the lives of athletes and subsequently, those they inspire. I plan to work as a strength and conditioning coach or an athletic trainer for a college or professional sports team. My mindset, work ethic, and the excellent resources available to me through this university will help me achieve this. I will be able to apply the communication skills and knowledge I gain from UH Manoa in order to make a difference in the lives of others. I am very determined to achieve my goals and my persistence and strong work ethic will get me there. In order to afford attending college, I have to be intentional with my actions, time, and money. Something that never came easy to me was public speaking. If you met me as a freshman, I was not a very outgoing person, and I definitely wasn't super talkative until I got to know you. I was always jealous of others that were naturally outgoing, so I decided to make a change. I started by taking a student council class, which has truly pushed me to go outside of my comfort zone, and I've become a better leader because of it. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, I hosted a pep assembly in front of the entire school, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. I am now one of the most extroverted and friendly people you'd meet because I put in the time and effort to better myself.
