Atomic Bomb, Justified or Not Justified Since World War 2, there has been a lot of controversy over the Atomic Bombs that were dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. During World War 2 Japan and the USA had their own quarrels, for example Japan bombed Pearl Harbor so the US retaliated by the Doolittle’s Raid. These barrages continued until the Atomic Bombs were dropped. Some think that the atomic bombs were inhumane and barbaric due to the fact that brought death to over a hundred thousand Japanese civilians. However, dropping the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a justifiable way to end the war considering that it ended the war faster, gave Japan what they deserved, and Japan was never going to surrender without the bomb. As stated in Document #5 (Nippon Times (TOKYO), August 10,1945), “This is a crime against God and humanity which strikes at the very basis of moral existence. What meaning is there any international law, in any rule of human conduct, in any concept of right and wrong, if the very foundations of morality are to be overthrown as the use of this instrument of total destruction threatens to do?” The JAPANESE newspaper is saying that using the atomic bomb is morally wrong, but the irony in this situation is the fact that they killed over two thousand and injured more than one thousand when they attacked Pearl Harbor. The newspaper also announced that dropping the bomb is pure nihilism, when in reality General Tojo (fascist leader of Japan) was murdering many more. In fact, the japanese incarcerated many American soldiers and made them march in the “Bataan Death March”, where many americans died or were killed.
