Wearing a helmet and eyewear on an ATV All-Terrain Vehicles are less stable and less visible on the road, and lack the protection of the rider. The government says the number of deaths on ATVs was over 26 times the number in cars. Helmets are about 37% effective in preventing ATV deaths, and about 67% effective in preventing brain injuries. Helmets should be worn at all times while on an ATV, no matter where a rider is at. Due to being safe and cautious, it should be a law in every state to wear a helmet and protective eyewear while on an ATV. ATV stands for All-Terrain Vehicles, which are vehicles that travel on low pressure tires, with a seat that the operator straddles, along with handlebars for steering control. The vehicles are known as motorcycles, quad, quad bike, three-wheeler, four-wheeler, or quadricycles. These types of vehicles do not have a windshield or full coverage for your head and body. There have been many reported accidents in the United States when a rider is in an accident, while not wearing a helmet, and they have been seriously injured, or dead. It is mandatory to wear eyewear in Illinois while on an ATV. Helmets are made for rider protection. Some riders who don’t wear helmets are more likely to get into an accident than the one who have a helmet on. When the rider with a helmet gets into an accident, they are more likely to come out alive . They may have a head injury or a concussion, but nothing too serious.
