Aviation in the 1920s The Golden Age of Aviation! This era was commonly know for the expansion of aviation as a whole. It set the pathway to many modern aviation resources we have today, to how we fight wars, how we get mail, and it helps all those packages we get from Amazon to us faster, it even affects on how we travel the world in a very short amount of time compared to ships. This all came from this revolutionary time in the Aviation world. I think before we even begin talking about the period of 1920s and aviation, we need to take it back in time to learn some of the roots and past of aviation. People afterwards started to fly like actual birds, people would try to find super light wood and attach all kinds of feathers to them to help them fly, but as by the sound of it they weren't very successful. This is when we jump ahead a little bit in time to the famous Leonardo di Vinci. Leonardo was the first person to really study in-depth the mechanics of flight and he drew up several ideas of flight and many flight mechanics, he was an absolute genius. One of his famous pieces is called the Ornithopter which is what the modern day helicopter is based off of. During the 1700s is when the first balloons came around and they were a huge game changer, they even had effects in WW1 where they were used to drop bombs. This is where we skip ahead to the late 1800s. The whole time period was full of gliders but one person who really stood out was Samuel P. Langley. He was the man that created a decent working airplane built with a steam powered engine on board, this invention flew only 3/4s of a mile. This invention led to the most famous of them all the Wright brothers. The wright brothers ( Orville and Wilbur Wright) spent a lot of time designing, testing, and studying airplanes to make the
