These advertisements work so well that we most likely know at least one person that has tried one of these fad diets. I had a friend that spent $250 on some type of weight loss pills, they were working great until his kidneys began to have problems related to these weight loss pills. We as Americans are some of the easiest people to fall for these crazy advertisements, there is numerous ways to protect ourselves from unhealthy diets.

Secondly, look for the source of the claims, one reliable source could be a registered dietitian nutritionist; since these nutritionists have to earn at least a four-year college degree that includes Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics administered coursework, requires these individuals to complete a supervised internship, and also pass national exams. Avoid claims that are based on personal testimonials, these testimonials are not a guarantee that the product will help and have the exact same results. Another way to avoid the fad diets is to ask, if it’s selling something. If a company or person will obtain profit from the data presented then you have to be wary. The claims’ main purpose is to raise sales and company stands. Even if the claims are in a fitness magazine or TV channel, that doesn’t make those claims credible, the main purpose here is to raise sales or views of a company or product; which leads to a higher profit.
