Through Business Professionals of America I have inquired many different skills and or experiences that have prepared me for the future in the business world. Skills are learned everyday, but through BPA I have been able to learn skills that are not taught in school. These consist of public speaking, communication, and creativity.
Before running for state office, i was very scared of getting up and talking in front of over a thousand people. As the time approached for me to give my speech i was still terrified. Getting up on stage and looking out to see how many people were looking at me made me feel sick inside. Soon i just took a breathe and began my speech, then i realized that public speaking was not too scary. After running for state office I am not as scared to get up in class or in front of a group of people to talk. Communication is the ability to pass on information in a precise and correct manner. BPA has gave me experience in this area by partaking in workshops that promote getting yourself out there and selling yourself in words and actions. When selling sponsorships I enter a business I use the communication skills that I have learned. These consist of describing to the business where their money is going to and what BPA has done in my life. By using these communication skill i have been very successful in getting business to sponsor many different events.
