What is an aphorism? An aphorism is a wise saying or quote that contains words of truth, lasting meaning, or inspiration. There are thousands of aphorisms that exist in the world. A famous aphorism by Babe Ruth is “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” This aphorism relates to my life because I want to try new things in my life and not just stick to one thing. One of the things I want to do in my life is to learn how to play softball. If I am ready by May then I am going to try out for the school team, but if I don’t make the team I’m not going to just give up and act like my life is over because I didn’t make it because my life isn’t over there are still tons of sports and things I can go for in my life. Like the aphorism says, every strike will bring me closer to my next homerun meaning, if I don’t make the team I can always go for something else. In order to achieve this goal I have to put in the work and practice all the time because if I don’t then I won’t get any better and my goal will never be achieved.

In May when tryouts come I hope that I make the team, but if I don’t I’m not going to give up I can either try again and play for a travel team or try for the school again or I can try out a different sport because the school offers many sports, but I don’t have to play for a school team to have fun and enjoy the sport I could play for any team and still enjoy it.
