In the short story, Babycakes, the society uses animals for all their needs and wants. Soon the animals slowly die off leaving nothing for the people to test, wear, eat, and more. The people look for something else that they can abuse. This abuse falls on babies. An IB learner profile trait that made the largest difference in this story is being open-minded. It was because the society was so open-minded that they did not feel it was wrong to use both humans and animals as testing material, food, and clothing. The society was so open-minded that they did not see the line that they were crossing and the significance of what they were doing.
