Baker Tilly is an accounting and advising firm that offers full services in accounting for tax, audit, and advisory services. They are the 15th largest accounting girl in the U.S., headquartered in Chicago. Office locations are across the east coast and to the Midwest from Connecticut, New York, Washington D.C, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Texas. Baker and Tilly serves clients across the country and is a current member of Baker Tilly International. In addition, Baker Tilly International is comprised of a world-wide network of accounting and business firms in over 147 countries and 30,000 professionals. VITA provides free tax services to underprivileged communities sponsored by the IRS. Aside from helping my local community, an added benefit would be the free training volunteer tax preparers receive. Upon completion of training, I obtain a tax certification on my resume and a letter of appreciation from the IRS. This would allow me the opportunity to gain experience with income tax. One of the major career tracks within accounting is tax or auditing, students such as myself, grapple with deciding amongst the two career tracks. Fortunately, Baker Tilley is a large public accounting firm who offers positions in diverse applications ranging from assurance, tax, auditing, valuation and transactional services. The firm also provides ample opportunities for their employees to grow and explore what application is a good fit. Baker Tilley nurtures such growth with their Learning and Design resources. In addition, they are a leading accounting firm with respect to gender diversity and inclusion. These initiatives ring close to home with me given I am a first college generation student seeking to obtain a career in the accounting
