In the article “Bangladesh Gay Rights Activists Is Hacked to Death” from The New York Times by Julfikar Ali Manik and Ellen Barry. Published on April 25, 2016. In Dhaka, Bangladesh both a Bangladesh gay activist and his friend were hacked to death with machetes on Monday April 25, 2016. The activist, Julhas Mannan helped organized a march called The Rainbow Rally, the rally was a march for gay and transgender adolescents. Mannan’s involvement in the march had interested the extremist’s groups. The Rainbow Rally was scheduled for April 14 but the police later cancelled the march due to violent threats. Religion is the values or beliefs that someone has in a higher power. Religion is used in the article when the police cancelled the rally because they were concerned about what the other people would think regarding their religion since being gay in Bangladesh is illegal and goes against their religion. Groups are close and personal interactions between two or more people. The Islamists Militants are a close group of terrorists who commit crime or use violence as a result for what they want. According to the article there was a group of five or six men who injured the security guard and killed Mannan and his friend. Obedience is doing what an authority figure commands you to do. Although the scriptures Quran and Hadith didn’t tell the Islamist Militants to commit murder these scriptures condone violent behavior like murder and slavery. The Islamist Militants were obedient to the Quran and Hadith because same sex relationships are not permitted in their religion and will result in death. Crime is behavior that goes against laws and will result in a punishment. The group committed multiple crimes that go against laws like murdering people. They would have received a penalty or punishment but the group was never caught. Social inequality is when people of a society have unequal amounts of education, power, income, or employment. The Islamist Militants have more power over the citizens of Bangladesh most likely because the people are too scared and have no power over them. Hate crimes a hate crime is violent behavior against people because of their different race, sexual preferences, or religion.
