Extracting oil and gas resources from underwater locations may benefit the economy, but the dilemma of abuse on the environment will cause natural resources to become nonexistent, and must be stopped in the United States. Drilling along the coast has produced numerous environmental risks. Drilling and transportation accidents are primary sources of environmental risks. The drilling accidents can be separated into two groups; intense hydrocarbon gushing, and routine spills during operation. When the pressure in the drilling zone is too high, hydrocarbon gushing is the result. Transportation accidents are secondary sources of environmental risks. The main cause of transportation accidents is the running along ground and into reefs. Not only is that spilling oil, but it is killing animal habitats. These accidents can also occur when tankers collide and produce fires. These fires sometimes lead to land, leaving another
