Bar Mitzvah is a Jewish coming to age celebration. Bar Mitzvah meaning son of the commandment. This celebration is an important time when the boys grow into Jewish adults. After researching Bar Mitzvahs, I can describe it as a significant milestone in the life of a Jewish child. The ceremony takes place in synagogues. It is typically celebrated on the Shabbat after a boy's 13th birthday. The purpose of the ceremony is to recognize the child as an adult in the Jewish community and to allow them to practice Judaism how they please. A Bar Mitzvah is much more than a coming to age moment. During the celebrations there is a reading from the Torah, giving speeches, dancing, music and food for all ages.
