The story of the pinewood derby starts with Don Murphy, Cub Master for Pack 280C in 1953. Don Murphy wanted to create a new father-son Cub Scout activity he could do with his 10 year old son who was too young to race in the Soap Box Derby. Don and several of the Cub Scout Pack Committee members, who were skilled with wood working and electricity, set about building a two lane 31 foot race track complete with a battery powered finish gate made from door bells and switches that would light a red or white light bulb to indicate which car won the heat. Murphy decided the car kit should consist of a 7 3/8 " block of pine wood with small wooden struts that would hold the axles. The "axles" , were nothing more than finish nails.
Throughout the last two weeks, I have been reading Patrick Ness’ Monsters of Men and Garth stein’s The Art of Racing in the Rain. I had 478 pages left of Monsters of Men and I finished that book. I am currently on page 122 of The Art of Racing in the Rain. Monsters of Men was about the battle between Spackle and the people. There were two groups of people that were also against each other but they decided that they had to join forces because one group did not have food and the other group did not have water because the Spackle destroyed their supply of it.
For example drafting is applied when ”Driver 2” tucks the nose of his car almost underneath the rear bumper of “Driver 1’s” car to improve airflow over both cars. Sometimes you will hear this maneuver called "running nose-to-tail. Drafting on the track enables the race car following the lead car to lessen its drag. If you want to stick the tires in the track, downforce is definitely the most important of the three D 's. An absence or even a significant reduction of downforce might cause the car to lift off of the track surface, similar to an airplane taking off.
However, if you race faster than the time allowed in your category you will instantly lose the race. The race will begin on an instant red to green light. The winner of the race will receive thirty dollars. The car tires must be 12.5 inches or smaller. You can’t have any delay boxes or timing system aids, or other bracket racing aids.

Then there are walk, trot, canter classes which are the different speeds the horses show at, and then there are walk, trot classes. There are also lead line classes for really young kids when they first start riding. There are different splits within the different classes. There are equitation classes which are solely judged on the rider's form. Then there are showmanship classes which are judged on the way you control the horse.
It feels like it just flies by in seconds. Races can be very hard if runners haven't trained though. They have to set a good pace for themselves. If they don't, racers might run way too fast in the beginning and then get tired and won't be able to keep running. This sounds silly, but runners will also have to make sure their shoes are on tight
They are useless to their owners and sent away. Most of the injuries horses receive are from the whippings and being forced to run at outrageous speeds, which can result in multiple wounds. Although it is exciting to watch and bet on horse racing, horse racing is not a sport but rather abuse, because of the severe injuries horses sustain, the dangerous steroids used to increase their speed, and the fate before
So, I would have to push myself so hard and go as fast as I possibly can. I never really did good in those higher classes until I got a 150 it was a bike that was strictly meant for racing and to go fast. Bad things happen when you try riding over your head and it did to me. I remember it like yesterday, I was in a race at Loaiza Dairy Farm and they have some labyrinth, gnarly trails there. But it wasn’t on the trail where I wrecked.
This can take years to win even just a couple of races. You also need to attract sponsors to get the financial backing to race full time. You need to train at least 5 hours a day to become a pro as well. Dedicate your life to it. It is a strenuous and demanding sport.
“If you ain’t first, you’re last,” is a quote by Ricky Bobby in the movie Talladega Nights (a racing movie). The quote is portraying that in racing winning is everything, and no one wants to lose. To win in racing you need to have a very fast and reliable car that can run consistently. Although a naturally aspirated motor can be fast, most people want a little extra horsepower. Since 1961 racers have been using nitrous oxide to help them make more horsepower and go faster.
