The Dr. Seuss book, The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, initially had themes of social class distinction and dominating social elites. As the novel read on, authority seemed to create social order by controlling the lower classes with foolish rules. The social elites such as King Derwin, were protected by the royal guards. Dr. Seuss poked fun at authority figures and their foolish rules in this children’s book. The children’s book displayed Marxist themes of the feudal system, capitalism, and alienation.

The special piece of clothing in my life is the Cubs shirt I got for Christmas. I love this particular shirt because It represents the first time I went to a Cubs game. My favorite team in the Major League Baseball league is the Chicago Cubs because my family has been Cubs fans for years. This shirt brings me back so many memories from when I went to the Cubs stadium, however, they did lose, but it was still an amazing experience. I also love this shirt because when we were in the store to get it someone tripped over a stool and I caught them.
There is a sentimental value that is attached to every families’ collection of heirlooms and keepsakes. No matter how long these items remain in storage or are hidden away; their representation always stays the same, they keep people connected to their family roots. He begins the story by writing from the main character’s childhood perspective.
I remember a lesson as a young child at six years old about accepting responsibility for my actions. One day while playing baseball with some neighborhood kids, my baseball cap went missing at the playground. Later on that evening I played in a little league baseball game at the local park. One of my teammates left his baseball cap on the bench after the game as he walked away. I decided that I would replace my stolen cap with the cap he left behind.

The sentimental value comes from personal experience, my grandpa who I had witnessed being healthy for many years, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to have surgery. He lost so much weight and struggled to move for over a year, seeing how much he suffered made me want to get into the medical field and help others that are dealing with the same experience. As I searched the branches of the medical field, I found Anesthesiologist to be the most interesting. After doing some research, the stories on how patients have woken up during surgery and felt pain but could not say anything broke my heart to pieces. This impacted me emotionally due to the sensitive person I am at heart.
Hats are now becoming popular again, not because of style but because of health reasons. Continued warnings about the ill effects of overexposure to the sun have made most people aware of the need to protect themselves when outdoors. Hats are seen on men, women, and children for this reason. Hats are favored by people who need to go out in public but do not have time to wash or style their hair; hats are also worn on an almost daily basis by men whose hair is thinning.
