What is Police Brutality? Police Brutality is the use of any force exceeding what is necessary to accomplish a lawful police purpose. It's history is undeniably long.(“Police Brutality”) Why do they mostly target blacks? I think they target blacks because they still view us as the minority of the country and they overuse their power.
Research Project: Rodney King Police brutality has been a major problem for many years, especially for those of the minority community. Minorities have been endangered to forcefulness by police for too long. Police brutality has been more relevant in recent years due to certain cases that have proved to be of life-threatening violence, such as the beating of Rodney King. The episode that had happened to Rodney King is a terrible one, but one that perfectly reflects what law enforcement is capable of doing. In order to fully understand police brutality and its probable causes, we have to bring up the case of Rodney King.
Police Brutality is defined as being the abuse of power by the unwarrant finliction of excesscive usse of force, by an indivual that is involved in law enforcement, while in the emidst of performing their official duties. The term "excessive use of force" means a force that is well beyond what would be considered as being necessary in order to handle a situation. The term can also be abblied to abuses that havee been perpretrated by corrections professilas in state, federal, millitary and muncipal prisons. The word brutality has several different meanings. However, in the context of police brutality, it means savage or cruelty.
Police brutality does not just happen to young African American boys and men, but to women as well.
So what exactly is Police brutality? The website, lawdictionary says police brutality is the use of excessive and/or unnecessary force by police when dealing with civilians. En.wikipedia states that The term "police brutality" was in use in the American press as early as 1872, when the Chicago Tribune reported on the beating of a civilian under arrest at the Harrison Street Police Station. Since then we have had multiple incidents dealing with police brutality which usually ends the same way.
Due to the recent finding of police brutality, most cases involved a white male police officer using force against a person of color. History will lead us to believe that race of an officer will be the number one contributing factor in the use of excessive force. As I stated above, in recent cases it has been a white male using force against a person of color. However, studying some research studies, it has shown that the no matter what the race is of the officer, it has no causal effect on the use of excessive force. What I mean by this is not all cases dealing with excessive force involves race.
Police Brutality is referring to the use of unnecessary or inordinate use of force from a Police officer towards a civilian. The abuse of power has resulted in chaos not only for each individual police department but the civilians fearing their lives. Employees engaging in misconduct happens daily but, in the law enforcement industry, misconduct ends in severe consequences for the general public. That reason alone makes the job of an Police officer so much more influential. Officers should be taking into consideration the magnitude of their duty and how reliant the people of America really are on their efforts.

There are various forms of police brutality, it can occur in physicality and can also use the exploitation of power.
This report is showing light to the communities’ response to police brutality particularly in the black communities and also their encounters with police officers. Police brutality is physical violence and great cruelty demonstrated by a police officer. Police brutality and misconduct have existed for many decades and it even has been broadcasted in news stories over America, but nothing has changed. It has happened predominantly to African Americans in lower-income states. Police officers are given slaps on the wrist for taking a life or injuring an innocent person.
Police brutality remains a common yet controversial topic around the world. It’s a topic that segregates communities and makes each other their enemy. Specifically, a white officer has been the enemy of the black community. Unfortunately, the tension between police and blacks grew over the past few decades.
Over the years, countries have witnessed many cases of police brutality, which has tremendously increased since the 80’s. Every day, officers are faced with many threatening situations, forcing them to make split-second decisions all the while simultaneously both expecting the worst along and hoping for the best. Police officers shouldn't have more power than any other human-being on this planet just because they wear a badge on their chest especially given the power to take any citizen's rights away, even their lives. Police brutality contains a lot of ethos, racism, and pathos because police are meant to protect society from harm, First of all, police brutality is hypocrisy, police should be properly trained so they do not resort to violence and abuse of its power. It’s illegal for a cop to violate someone's rights; police officers are suppose to be trusted and expected to respect society as a whole.
Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. The problem posed by the illegal exercise of police power is an ongoing reality for individuals of a disfavored race, class, or sexual orientation. Police brutality must be stopped so that police do not forget who they are serving – not themselves, but the public.
Police brutality has been an issue for more than a century. Between police officers and people of the community there has always been conflict on the rights for the people and how they are applied on the street or in action. The laws that were put in place to protect civilians were not strongly enforced at first but now today things have started to change. The most common reported abuse was towards African Americans, and the mentally ill. When police brutality started becoming an issue it was obvious that it was racism.
