I have chosen Batman as the superhero I have conducted my research on. Batman is of course a fictional superhero owned by DC Comics. He first appeared in a detective comic in the May of 1939, written by Bill Finger. He was first known as The Bat-Man and later, the Dark Knight and world’s greatest detective.
Batman is the secret identity of Bruce Wayne, who lives in Gotham, who is a billionaire philanthropist and industrialist. There are a series of characters that accompany Batman on his crime fighting feat, such as his sidekick Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, police commissioner Jim Gordon and occasional appearances of the heroine, Batgirl. The costume took an almost dramatic change. Here you can see the silver, ice accents. Batman has lost his utility belt. His fellow characters have adopted versions of his costume. The classic emblem on his chest has evolved. Bat-nipples have appeared adding to the painted on effect which is rather unattractive. Batman looks plastic but still scary. In the next film, Batman still has nipples, his utility belt has returned but here he is featured fully dressed in black which is somewhat in effective because you can hardly notice the detailing of the emblem and his utility belt. He suffers degrees of post traumatic stress disorder which is understandable, this makes him seem self absorbed. It is this ‘version’ of Batman that the audience responds more to. He is no longer the perfect model superhero from the 50’s who is a crime fighting genius in the city of Gotham, he is dark and mysterious and the emotional effects make him hugely relatable. We learn that although he is somewhat different to us with his physical strength and superhero persona but his feelings and emotions and changing personality is human. We feel sorry for him and endearing making the modern day superhero easily accessible to the
