Battle of the Alamo
The Battle of the Alamo was a battle fought between Mexicans and Texans. It started in February 23 through March 6, 1836. It was important because at the end of the battle Mexicans won, but the Texans declared independence from Mexico. Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie and the Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The Battle of the Alamo is one of the most important events to learn about, because that is one of the most important battles that made Texas want independence from Mexico.
Mexican General- Antonio López de Santa Anna lived in Xalapa and was born on February 21, 1794 and died on June 21, 1876. Antonio Lopez was an important person in the Battle of the Alamo because he was the general who led the Mexicans to battle. He was also the President of Mexico and the General of the Mexican army. While Antonio Lopez’s army was marching down to Texas they started getting scarce on many of their supplies, such as food they also lacked on cattle and wagons. Many of Antonio Lopez’s men were sick due to the polluted water and there wasn’t too many medical supplies to heal injured men that fought Indians on their way to Texas. James “Jim” Bowie was an American hero who fought as an unofficial general in the Battle of the Alamo. Even though he was ill and dying in his bed, he still wanted to fight. Jim Bowie also carried a Bowie Knife everywhere he went because guns are mostly inaccurate so when it comes to it, soldiers would eventually need to fight in hand to hand combat. Jim Bowie was skilled with his knife, due to his previous occupation. He was an American frontier, Indian fighter, and a brawler. James Bowie died of an unknown disease suspected to be pneumonia or an evolved version of tuberculosis. He was buried in the Cathedral of San Fernando, Texas.
