The term six research theory course, NURS 495, emphasized the importance of nurse leadership and how nurses can influence positive changes in health care delivery to patients with chronic illness. It also explored the contradictions that exist in nursing practice and encouraged the students to develop a critical and pragmatic approach to client care. The co-requisite clinical course, NURS 499, integrated nursing theory and current best practice on an acute care nursing unit at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. In this consolidated learning analysis, I will explore a nursing practice event that will illustrate the major issues surrounding the treatment of competing mental health comorbidities in a patient with hoarding behaviors.
There is a noticeable gap in the supply for patients and demand for health care providers. Collaborating with fellow physician assistants, researching new ideas and focusing on new strategies for care in areas can help close this gap. Through my experiences, I have noted the need for support in patient care, and thus arises the question of should there be a requirement to enter the health care system through a gatekeeper. The overwhelming distance seen in the lack of professionals able to meet the demands of growing number of patients, eliminates the possibility of receiving adequate care. Overcrowded halls, overflowing rooms does not help balance the requirement for sufficient support.
Management of Care Case Study Josepha is working on a medical surgical unit with three other RNs and one LPN. There is also a male and a female patient care tech. Josepha has been a nurse for four months, and after completing two months of orientation she takes a full assignment as a registered nurse. Josepha feels that the assignments she receives are not always fair, as she tends to get the most challenging clients.

Reflecting on the past seven weeks I have acquired countless knowledge, which I will use to further strengthen my profession as an Advanced Practice Nurse. The course allowed me to think beyond my current practice knowledge and acquired innovative ways to evaluate the situation at hand. The learning objective in program outcome four helps set standards that I will use to guide my clinical practice to meet various healthcare needs. Using the case studies has helped to further enhance my knowledge on disease physiological state, using differential diagnosis, disease manifestations, and clinical presentation. It has also taught me the skills on how to differentiate between similar diagnoses to properly identify the problem and treat the patients.
