Child and teen psychiatrists use biological, psychological, and social factors when working with patients [and] to help treat them. (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist N.P) They are [labeled] physicians who deal with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders concerning thinking, feeling and behavior that affect children, teens, and their families. There are hundreds of disorders a person could suffer from. These include ones like Obsessive Compulsive disorder to more complex ones such as Schizophrenia. No matter the disorder most will seek the help of a psychiatrist. They offer families medical education concerning the problem involving the child as well as information about medical traditions of the profession and about treatments and the risks. In high school, classes like Psychology, Anatomy, and Biology are very important and useful to take. In college, one is first required to get a bachelor's degree. It is suggested to focus on courses to prepare you for medical school and one's field such as a psychology course and a pre-med course. Next one is required to take the MCAT or the Medical College Admissions Test. It can be taken as many times as one likes until you receive a passing grade. To continue one is to start a MD or OD degree and with either one you must take four years of medical school. After all the school it is imperative that you take a residency for training. This can last for three to eight years. Lastly, one can apply to be licensed and board certified and take the board exam which can be taken as many times as needed.
