That first job will certainly be a doozy. You will get paid peanuts. You will work day and night. But you realize that you have to do this to ride up the ladder of your goals and dreams. When that first paycheck arrives with more money than you had ever seen in your life, with your name on it, you think you had really made it then. But then you forgot all the things you have to pay for now. Then you cry on the inside because you wish mom and dad could still pay for everything. You cry again when you realize how much you just paid Uncle Sam. But as you wipe those innermost tears away, you know that you took another big step on the path to adulthood. Becoming an adult is a long process and there is no “aha” moment. Becoming an adult is the process of wearing adult costume for 365 days a year until slowly you don’t need it any more to hide that fact you are truly not an adult, but just a little kid on the inside wearing an adult costume, so other adults do not realize you’re a phony. Becoming an adult is a struggle for sure. It will never be a process where the hand you a piece of a paper and congratulate you on becoming an adult. The journey to becoming an adult is an epic journey with massive highs and lows, but once you reach the conclusion of that journey you will realize that entire struggle was totally worth it. Some people don’t realize they are adults for a long time. They may realize it at a great moment in there life. Like when they say, “I do” to the person that they will love forever and ever.
