According to Behind The Name, the name Alison originated from England, France, and Old Germany. In Old German, Alison means noble and exalted. Alison came from the French name Aalis; also known as Alice. Alison was a common name in England as well as France during the middle ages. Alison almost became nonexistent until the twentieth century. The name Alison fits me very well for the following reasons: I am noble, I am reserved and I was named after an amazing woman. The first reason why the name Alison fits me is I am noble. Being noble has a few different definitions. But the noble I relate to is the high moral principle. According to the Society of Kabalarians, one of the meanings of the name Alison is “You are a solitary person, reserved and sensitive. You seldom allow others to get too close until you are sure you will receive understanding. In matters of the heart, you must guard against jealousy and suspicion. Others find it a challenge to get to know you and although you want affection, friendship, and understanding, your aloof, shy qualities rebuff the attention of others.” Being reserved is one of the definitions of my name that most relates to my personality. Before I get to know others I keep conversations generic and do not let anyone get involved into my life. For example, when I first meet someone I try to find out three key things. One of the key things I try to find out is how the individual talks about their family. If the person talks bad about their family then I do not get involved. If the individual talks bad about their own family it makes me think they would talk bad about me. The second key information I try to find out is how do they talk about their current friends. The first and second key are the same for me if the individual talks bad about their friends, then they would most likely talk bad about me and I will not get involved. The third key I try to discover is common interests. The common interest is not as important to me as the first two keys but having common interests makes friendships stronger. After the three keys are found out I will either keep our friendship generic or let the individual get to know
