“An Aryan brother is without a care/ He walks where the weak and heartless won’t dare/ And if by chance he should stumble, and lose control/ His brothers will be there, to help reach is goal/For a worthy brother, no need is too great/ He need not but ask, fulfillment’s his fate/For an Aryan brother, death holds no fear/Vengeance will be his, through his brothers still here.”
Deciding if a horse is an American Albino will depend only on their color. The American Albino can be a Quarter horse, Arabian, Thoroughbred or Morgan if they meet the American Albino color requirements. American Albinos can be stock type, saddle type or Arabian type horses. The American Albinos that are stock and saddle type will usually be 15.2 hands high. The Arabian types are not as tall.
The horrors of having the “wrong” colored skin during the 1940s showed an injustice that led to bloodshed across a country that was meant to be free. A fourteen-year-old Emmett Till was killed due to the lies of a racist woman and the insane acts of her husband. The devastating beating and brutal murder of Emmett Till fueled people to take action for the Civil Rights Movement and shed light on the need for societal reforms. Emmett Till entered an environment completely different from the one he had once experienced in Chicago.
In the video, The Biology of Skin Color, Dr. Nina Jablonski explains “that the variation in skin color that evolved since our human ancestors migrated out of Africa can be explained by the tradeoff between protection from UV and the need for some UV absorption for the production of vitamin D” (Dr. Jablonski). What I found most interesting was that genes can influence skin and hair pigmentation in many ways. The overall color of the skin results from both the number of pigment-making cells which are called melanocytes and their level of activity. Nearly all skin types possess the ability to tan. Tanning is caused by an exposure to UV radiation which results in the simulation of melanin production in the body.
This study primarily focuses on the need for school leaders to adopt greater racial awareness through the use of composing racial autobiographies. Gooden and O’Doherty present this as a pedagogical tool in shifting away from racial unconsciousness and colour blindness. The findings from this study outlines participants own disregard to race prior to composing their racial autobiographies. It also further indicates that self-reflection; and being conscious of how our beliefs and perceptions of others with regards to race can shape decision-making, which is imperative for leaders who seek cultural responsiveness. This does however have its limitations, as it seems to develop awareness more so rather than a direct practical application,
The term “ white girl’ refers to any white American girl who is obsessed with any of the following: Leggings, Uggs, Starbucks, Autumn, iPhones, Instagram, Twitter, Selfies, or the movie Mean Girls. Since 2012, all of these “basic” women have been relocated to an island referred to as White Girl Island . The island is located fifty miles off the coast of Florence, Italy with citizens that are required to wear their “white girl starter packs”. They’re equipped with UGG boots that match perfectly with their yoga pants and oversized hoodies. For the citizens at White Girl island to remain at ease, they must have these necessities, government, and entertainment.
In the Late 1800s, there was an era called the Jim Crow Era. Jim Crow was a character that was created in 1863 by white men to amuse white people. This character began to grow to symbolize one of the most tragic events in American history, known as, racism. African-Americans would become slaves simply because they were African-American in 1865. Even though, we do not have slaves in today’s society, we do still see some rippling affects from the Jim Crow Era.
These were some of my favorite readings so far that we had been required to read through. They were very enlightening and provided many great perspectives and stories from white and minority people alike. The three readings I enjoyed the most are Defining Racism: “Can We Talk?” by Beverly Daniel Tatum, Color-Blind Racism by Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, and Smells Like Racism by Rita Chaudhry Sethi. What I liked about Bonilla-Silva’s piece is the quotes taken from the white privilege.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is this nation’s oldest and most influential civil rights based organization in the United States. It was originally founded under the name of the National Negro Committee (NNC) on May 31st, 1909 by a group of black activist, white progressives, Jews, etc. in response to the Springfield Race Riots in 1908 and for the ongoing inhumane practice of lynching. The NNC came together to discuss not only the deteriorating status of the African Americans but also the social, economic, civil rights, and political rights of African Americans too. By May 1910, the National Negro Committee would go by the name of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
Throughout the semester, the course has taught me a lot about myself and those around me. I have learned that based on Cross’ racial identity model I am in stage 5. It was new to me to find out there was model based on racial identity. Stage 5 means that I able to talk to anyone in and outside of my racial group. Which would mean that I would not have to seek counseling to correct an issue because there isn't one.
The purpose of this investigation is to determine the inheritance pattern of the albino trait and whether the albino gene in corn seedlings is dominant or recessive. One group of lab partners in a lab class examine a tray of corn seedlings showing both green and albino plants. The students record their findings and compare their tray of corn seedlings’ results to five other lab groups in the class. The lab students used this information to test all of the possible gene combinations the parents that produced partial green and albino offspring may have had, using Punnett squares. Based on their findings, the groups determine the hypothetical genotype and phenotype ratios of the corn seedlings and use this to form a hypothesis.
At the heart of whiteness studies is the invisibility of whiteness and white privilege (Ahmed, 2004). Whiteness is thought of as the hidden criterion to which every other race is measured against. Through the lens of whiteness, the “other” is seen as deviant (Ahmed, 2004). The invisibility of whiteness, however, is only from the perspective of those who are white (Matthews, 2012). To people who are not white, it is pervasive and blatant.
The people from Africa were generally part of early American history; however, Africans had experience slavery under better conditions compared to the conditions imposed by other civilized society. From the Egyptian Empire to the Empire of Songhai, slavery was practice for the betterment of their society, however, foreigners invaded these regions and took their slave, their ports and impose these people to a life of servitude in the Caribbean islands and in the English’s colonies. Furthermore, the African American slaves were an active agent of society in the earliest period of American history; they have brought new religious practices to their community; for instance, they constructed networks of communities; they had fought in war alongside
