Do you believe Herbert’s statistics were skewed to support his claim? Is it reasonable to think police have to stereotype to help stop crime? Can profiling people be helped? Why do police with the same race as black and Hispanic stop other
Trace L. Meares(2015) is the one who claims that the increase in crime is because of the “Ferguson effect”, and that long term data most likely will show a decline in crime. She uses a visual chart showing the shootings in NYC since 2004. She says that there has been frequent raises and declines in crime, and this particular raise is not because of the police backing off because of criticism. I found it really persuasive after seeing the visual to support her argument. James Alan Fox uses statistics to support his argument and says, “Reported jumps in crime in some cities reflect only a few months, a statistically unreliable indicator of a trend.”
This was not the case in the 1980s. As a result, only certain parts of the broken windows theory were embraced. Policies across the country focused on heavily policing disorder, but largely ignored the community-building aspect. Bill Bratton’s reign as New York City Transit Police Chief in 1990, and later as NYPD Commissioner from 1994-1996, saw him embracing this movement. The broken windows theory was established to target small problems throughout neighborhoods, such as vandalism on walls, litter on sidewalks, or broken windows in abandoned buildings.
Police pursuits leads to more charges, takes dangerous criminals off the streets immediately, and quick recovery of stolen property. Once people begin to find out that there is a “no pursuit policy”, more and more people will fail to stop for the police and quick results for victims of burglaries, assaults and others. The cons of policing pursuits are as followed.

Broken windows was a policing strategy that gave officers the decision to choose what crimes to stop at the officer’s own discretion. Although broken windows theory was effective in reducing crime rates
The Chicago Race Riots of 1919 was a major conflict that began in Chicago Illinois because of racial tension between black and whites because of cultural differences. It will only get rid of them, and now when same situation occurs again you will do the same thing? It will be a cycle of death. The amount of people killed by the police is way to high. I don 't think it is right for those who enforce the law to break the law. It is devastating the amount of death that goes on because of a simple solution that can be solved by just talking.
As stated in the previous paragraph, DST allows for more daylight, which is proven to reduce crime rate in general. To test this theory of daylight crime reduction, the DOT conducted another study in Washington, D.C. “This study found that violent crime rate was reduced by 10-13 percent during periods of daylight saving time.” (Source C)
Arguments: One of the most convincing arguments is that it drastically decreases crime rates according to the statistics. Numerous studies have shown that this method “stop and frisk” has actually decreased crime rates. This fact is opposed by many saying that police are targeting minorities and meaningfully stop and frisking them. However, according to Jay Stalien an African American officer “it will ALWAYS have a higher rate of blacks getting stopped, and will ALWAYS have a higher rate of blacks getting killed … The statistics will follow the same trend for Asians if you go to China”.
Which influence officer behaviors to make peace with citizens. The advantages for community policing is that both the officer and citizens get to come in accordance with reducing crime and increase the security in the community and neighborhoods. This era gave citizen a voice. To help assist and work with officers as community watch to reduce crime. Unlike the reform era, who attempted to be
Positivist theories generally account for too much crime, and they do not explain any exceptions. A positivist theory states that crime is caused by poverty, but that does not account for all crime because not all poor people commit crimes, they respond to many things, biological, psychological and sociological factors(Bohm & Vogel 2011). Their theories usually do not include the illegalization process that takes place, and they take the definition of a crime for granted. They don’t even examine why a behavior is criminalized, or why the states criminalize such behavior (Bohm & Vogel 2011).
The purpose of this essay was to discuss whether or not a broken windows styles of policing would lead to negative results in an impacted area, if it was possible to have assertive and proactive police efforts that did not generate negative complaints and if having a quality of life approach to policing would be beneficial and
Racial segregation was another problem of the United States after the Civil War. It affected everyone, not just the colored. But what even is this racial segregation? Well, racial segregation is the intentional separation of different racial groups. And this separation happened just because people of color wanted to be treated like people and not just as slaves.
Today in America we have a crime problem that has been around for generations.
