Vermont Yankee is a decommissioned power plant that resides in Vernon, Vermont, on the Massachusetts and New Hampshire border. It started its operations on November 30, 1972 and it was operational for forty two years and ceased operations December 29, 2014. The Boiling Water Reactor that generated electricity for a large portion of the population of Vermont was entangled in legislative issues for years. Eventually the owners of the plant “Entergy” won the court case that overruled the state to dictate the permit of operations. Alongside court, Vermont Yankee’s presence always sparked protest, gatherings and controversy during operational years and even before its construction.
Canada has a little piece of almost every culture in the world, shown through the large amount of people moving to Canada from every continent in the world. The multitude of cultures is displayed through the plethora of festivals held throughout the country every year, such as the Folk Fest, Edmonton Food Festival, Heritage Festival and the International Film Festival, all bringing in various cultures and traditions from around the world. Canada has had several things that have made it a good country to live in. In the first half of the twentieth century, Canada fought in many battles during the World Wars that had a positive impact on the world. On top of that, there are many Canadians that made notable changes in Canada and the rest of the world. Lastly, Canadians have created technologies that are very important to the way we live today. After looking at these factors, it can be said that Canada is a country that its citizens should be proud of.

The main reasons my parents immigrated to Canada is that they wanted to try a different country’s lifestyle, and that Canada gave more job opportunities. They wanted to try Canada’s lifestyle, because Canada is a more developed country than Malaysia. Furthermore, since Canada is a more developed country, it has more jobs and opportunities. The reason they moved to Canada out of anywhere else in the world, is because Canada is very welcoming to immigrants and very friendly.
