Benjamin Franklin and his inventions
There are a lot of important people in history. Such as George Washington; he was a general in the Revolutionary War. He was also the first President of the United States of America. As commander in chief he set the standards for all other Presidents. However one of the most important person in the 1700’s was Benjamin Franklin. He had a huge role in government. What sets Franklin apart were his inventions. He invented swim fins, the Franklin Stove, and bifocals, along with many other things, including inventing electricity. With these inventions Benjamin Franklin changed the world.

He invented this because during the winter the colonists would use an open fireplace. Which used a lot of wood and most of the heat went up into the chimney. Another reason why Benjamin Franklin made this was because a lot of the colonist were concerned about the forest going thin. The Franklin stove would be in the middle of the of the house and the heat generated from the fire would warm up the house in all directions. The medal walls would also warm up, so when the fire went out the stove would keep the house warm long after the fire went out. Another benefit is that the user was a able to control the rate at which the wood would burn by controlling the air flow. With this invention Benjamin Franklin, set the standards for all kinds of stoves.( John Fuller, 1989-2016) For example There are electric stoves, gas stoves, stoves for cooking, and of course what they were originally invented for, warming the house. The reason why Benjamin Franklin invented the bifocals was because he didn’t like having to switch between his glasses for distance and his glasses for reading. He had to do this because he suffered from Presbyopia when he was getting old. Presbyopia was a disease that affect your eyes. This was common for elderly colonist. He made them by cutting both of his lenses of his old glasses and putting them to gather( John Fuller,1998-2016). The top half was for distance, while the bottom half was for reading(Independence Hall association,1999-2014). The Bifocals was a huge deal
